The Specials illustrations
first year FMP
For my first Final Major Project at college, I chose a brief submitted by the brand Diesel. The brief asked me to select a music artist that inspires me and to create two illustrations based off two of their songs. I chose to illustrate 'Ghost Town' and 'Rat Race' by the specials due to their political contexts.

This is the finished design and concepts for the illustration I made for the song Ghost Town by the specials. In this illustration, I wanted to highlight the political and racial tensions of 1981 and the Thatcher era that the song was based off.

This is the finished design and concepts for the illustration I made for the song Rat Race by the specials. In this illustration, I wanted to highlight the two main target audiences of the band, Rude Boys, and Skins. I also wanted to capture the workings classes frustration at the class divide, and inequality in education.

For this project, I received the maximum grade, which is a Distinction, this was not only due to the outcome of the two illustrations, but the amount of research I conducted into the backstories of the song, and the band itself in order to fully connect with the target audience as the brief described.
